Spring 2019 CLASSES

The EQUIP courses for the fall begin on January 13 at 6:00 p.m. Here are the classes that will be offered:

Session 1

Men’s Study: Family Worship

Having your family in a Bible-teaching local church is crucial to Christian parenting, but it is not enough. Giving your children exposure to the glory of God once or twice a week is simply not enough to make a lasting impression on your children. This is why family worship is so important. Learn how to direct your family in this important discipline.

Leader: Mark Harrod

Offered: Session 1

Materials: $5

  • Family Worship (Donald Whitney)

Trinity Prayer Group

Join a small group of believers each week to discuss the importance of prayer, and pray for the ministries and direction of our church in addition to other kingdom-related matters.

Leader: Benny Van Huss

Offered: Session 1

Community Bible-Reading

Do you want to start off the new year by developing a habit of regular Bible reading? A CBR group is a great way to gain structure and accountability needed for success. Each week we will meet simply to discuss how God has impacted us from the weekly readings and encourage one another.

Leader: Haley Moore (S1) S2: TBD

Offered: Sessions 1 & 2

Materials:

  • CBR Journal

Leadership Training: SS Teachers

All adult and youth Sunday school teachers are invited to attend leadership training designed to sharpen the skills of those who teach or lead small groups. In this training we’ll move past the basics and address issues such as member care, how to craft better application, how to stimulate more discussion, and even conflict management. The course will consist mostly of group discussion and brief video segments.

Leader: Nathan Moore

Offered: Session 1

Materials: Provided

Jesus Among Secular Gods

As belief in the secular gods of atheism, hedonism, relativism, and humanism continues to grow, it’s more important than ever for believers to be able to defend the claims of Christ. This six-session video study by Ravi Zacharias challenges these popular philosophies and equips believers to share their faith in a relativistic culture.

Leader: Charlie & Beth Dolinger (S1) S2: TBD

Offered: Sessions 1 & 2

Materials: $10

  • Jesus Among Secular Gods: Study Guide (Zacharias & Vitale)
Session 2

Real Change

No matter how long you’ve been a Christian, we all have areas of our lives that need transforming. This seven-session course presents David Powlison’s well-known model for biblical change that can be applied to thousands of problems and circumstances. Each week includes Bible study, reflection, and discussion.

Leader: Nathan Moore

Offered: Session 2

Materials: $10

  • Real Change (David Powlison)

Finding God’s Will

Did you know it’s possible to make a hard life decision without dreams, visions, fleeces, open doors, random Bible verses, or liver shivers? Kevin DeYoung’s little book discusses hyper-spiritual approaches to finding God's will such as these and offers a better alternative. Commit to read a small portion of the book during the week and come participate in a small group discussion.

Leader: Nathan Hartgrove

Offered: Session 2

Materials: $8

  • Just Do Something (Kevin DeYoung)

Leadership Training: Ushers/Greeters/Safety Team

A visitor's first impression at our church can pave the way for Gospel transformation or it can be a barrier. All ushers, greeters, and safety team members are encouraged to discover how they can minimize distraction and create a welcoming environment on Sunday mornings. The course will consist mostly of group discussion and brief video segments.

Leader: Tony Maden

Offered: Session 2

Materials: Provided

Relationships: A Mess Worth Making

We all know that relationships can be messy, but Paul Tripp and Timothy Lane think they are a “mess worth making.” This 13-week book study has the potential to transform your own relationships and equip you to help others with the problems of life. • Change And your Relationships: Study Guide (Paul Tripp & Timothy Lane)

The Gospel Centered Life at Work

You’ve heard people say that the Gospel transforms every part of life but how does it transform your work life? How does the “cross chart” apply to our vocations? This 13-week study is built around the premise that God intends to use our vocations as a vehicle to redeem us and the world around us. Read a brief but robust article each week and enjoy discussion in a small group format.
